Olite

Back on the road.... due south-east

a roman aqueduct as seen from our moving car...

Entering Olite... a beautiful historical town in Navarra where we decided to spend our last precious holiday weekend before returning to Barcelona for the last stretch of our summer extravaganza ;) (wow... it all seems so long ago now...!)

As a special treat, we stayed at the Parador Nacional de Olite... an amazing luxurious castle hotel right in the centre of Olite town. The kids could not believe they were actually going to sleep in a castle!!

Our family suite...

It had the loveliest window alcove... overlooking a vineyard

Four poster beds!

Hotel goodies :)

And a big old fireplace.

The boys took to all the luxury like ducks to water ;)

After settling in, we took a look around...

And made a new friend :P

And took a walk around the town...

And visited the famous Olite Castle.

And sauntered around some more...

And made some more new friends

And marvelled at all the beauty

And went to Restaurante El Preboste for a lovely evening meal.

The Parador by night...

Travel cot invasion at the Olite castle hotel!!!

The vineyard...

More Parador...

Goodbye Olite, goodbye...

On the road again. As we headed towards Barcelona, the colours of the earth changed and the blue of the sky became more intense.

only in Spain

only in Barcelona. we're back.

Coming soon: Squeezing the most out of our last few days...
