Wexford in June

We had arranged to meet Maite, Juanra and Leire the following day (Saturday) in Wexford town. They were travelling up from Cork, where they had stayed the night before. They were very unlucky with the weather the whole time they were here: rain, rain and more rain...

Wexford harbour in the rain... Malachy in his yellow fisherman's raincoat fitted right in!

Trawlers.

After our little rainswept walk around the port, we accidentally fell upon a kid's festival that was going on in a marquis on the seafront. Unfortunately, due to the rain all the outdoor activities were cancelled. No matter, we had great fun laughing at these giants and their silly music...

... listening to this friendly storyteller telling old celtic tales,

... watching the puppet shows,

...and having our faces painted :)

Later all 8 of us went back to the rented holiday bungalow in Cullaloe and took a walk on Ballinesker beach. It was nice for the kids to hang out the next morning with their aunt and uncle...

and their cousin Leire.

Next stop: the Irish Heritage Park. Stay tuned.

Curracloe and Ballinesker

On Liam's last day of school before the summer holidays, we picked him up at hometime and whisked ourselves straight off down to Wexford :)

We had hired a house in a little placed called Curracloe for the weekend. We arrived a day before Maite, Juanra and Leire and this is what we did while we waited for them to arrive...

First we left out stuff at the bungalow and decided to head to the beach for a picnic.

The holiday village's local labrador took a liking to us and accompanied us on all of our walks...

It was just a few minutes down the road.

Golden sand, a bit of a chill in the air (ony a bit), a blue(ish) sky and waves to chase :)

In no time at all the boys were in their togs. (Look at Liam jump for joy!)

Ballinesker beach reminds me of Brittas Bay.

I thought it was cold but they didn't seem to mind :)

My blue eyes match the sky.

All that sand!!!

All that water!!!

Drying off... bbrrrr

Picnic time!
Later back in the holiday village, we played for a while at the playground

Then we took a walk to Curracloe village...

And then back to the house again for our bedtime routine!

Liam and Lorcan have a very special bond. Here they sit, snuggling and listening to some music, relaxing after our long day....

the "arana-jambrinas" come to Ireland!!

At the end of last June, Maite, Juanra and Leire came over from Algorta to spend some time in Ireland!

They arrived late one evening, grabbed their hired car the next morning and, braving the twisty-turny Irish roads where we drive on the 'wrong' side (!), they hit the road to Galway.

They briefly toured the West, Southwest and South of Ireland... cirlcing back around to the Southeast, where we met up with them and spent the weekend in Wexford....

eat, jump and be merry

You make your way to a nice big, green park on a nice bright day. You sit yourself down at a picnic table with you mummy and your brother and you eat your afternoon snack of fruit to get your jumping energies charged up.

And then you're off. You might as well use the park bench as a spring board.

This last one's my favourite. Liam in mid air and Malachy looking all sheepish :)

Back to his good old grinning self :)

After a blue Smartie... bleeeehhh!

Liam practicing his photography skills. Look at his reflection in the sunglasses!!!

Yes indeed, we all love the park :)

rhcp bday

-So, um, Vanessa, what would you like to do for your (36th!!) birthday this year?

-Oh, I dunno... nothing fancy. Maybe just fly all the way to Bilbao with Jaime and spend my birthday watching my favourite band play at a cool music festival.

-Wish granted!

So with Granny and Granddad taking care of all 3 boys (thank you soooo much!), we flitted off to Bilbao for a day and a half to see the Red Hot Chili Peppers (and a pile of other groups) at Bilbao BBK Live with our friends David, Eamon and Max. Needless to say, wee loved every minute of it!!
