beach boys

Although the weather has been miserable here for a week or so now, earlier this month we had some really nice hot summer weather... and, fortunately, we made the most of it! Here are some photos of a day at Brittas Bay.

We brought a lovely picnic and some toys to play in the sand... and the water!

Look out Baywatch!

play, play, play... play in every way.

At the park again...
Taking a breather...

With Lorcan on the front seat of Mummy's bike, Malachy on the back seat of Daddy's, and Liam cycling all on his own... we love going out all together on our bikes!!

snacking and playing.

A couple of weeks ago, Liam had his last class at music school for this year. He has now completed the "Children's World of Music" 2-year introduction course. He learned a lot of things: the families of the orchestra, the instruments in each family, the different styles of music, tempos, reading musical notes and symbols, etc. And he had an introduction to playing the piano, the recorder and the violin.

We all went to his recital to cheer him on...

Well done, Liam!

Afterwards we went to celebrate... in the form of hot chocolate and mini-muffins!! Mmmm

a day at the zoo

We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo... how about you, you you?

Look at the cute baby orangutan... awwww!

And the baby elephants are a huge hit too!

Over at the City Farm, this cow wanted to get "up close and personal" with our camera!!!

"The wishing chair": No prizes for guessing what Liam's doing!

Malachy made a wish too.

I hope their wishes came true :)

like riding a bike

Guess who can cycle on two wheels now? You should see him go!

Liam got this bike for his 4th birthday. It has stabilisers on it then and for a long time he wasn't interested in taking them off. Then one day a few months ago, he asked us to remove them so that he could try cycling like a "big boy". But, as soon as they were off, he decided, nope... he wasn't ready. So the bike sat in the shed on its two wheels for a few months more. Then one day about a month ago, he said he wanted to take it out and try it again. And, hey presto... no tumbles, no fear... all of a sudden, when he put his mind to it, he could ride his bike unassisted! That's our boy!

Malachy has gone for a different option. He as a cool little two-wheeler bike with no pedals! He whooshes along, propelling himself with his feet. He's a little flier!
