This is a rooftop glimpse of our new local market. An amazing colourful curved mosaic roof poised above the restored faade of the old Santa Caterina market. A complete transformation. The market originally shut down for a year for full renovations. However, as is common here in the old Roman quarter of Barcelona, as soon as the builders began to dig, they found a treasure of Roman ruins beneath the building! The provisional market was 'provisional' for over six years while the archeologists excavated and gathered everything before letting the work resume.
