a slice of life in la cavada

We couldn't let our summer holiday go by without a visit to this little guy... and his family!

So we left Gallarta and drove to Cantabria, passing by valleys like this one...

... pass mad looking cows like this one,

and this one!

...to the house of these guys: David, Aritz and...

Eva... and her (here hidden) bump... which has since emerged into a beautiful little girl called Oihane!

This lovely family (who have appeared on the JamRobBlog many a time) have their own blog too! The kids love going to see them in Cantabria (as do we) for many reasons. It's in the middle of some gorgeous luscious countryside, there's a drum kit in the basement that everyone is allowed to bang to their hearts content, there are dogs and horses and hens and cocks, there is freshly grown vegetables and homemade jam and free range eggs... and there are friendly faces and good times :)

Unfortunately though, we were rained out of it on this summer visit :(

Only getting to go outside and enjoy the scenery briefly between heavy rain showers.

On our last day, the rain eased off and we decided to give the horses a visit.

David and his horses. Hi guys!

And, ahem... this is what we encountered on the road out of this area when we left! Talk about traffic jams....!
Next up: Olite (Navarra), so stay tuned!
